The long-awaited news came: thousands of U.S. men now in draft-deferred classifications may find themselves in the Army before the next cold weather. In Washington last week Colonel Carlton S. Dargusch, Deputy Selective Service Director, said: "The manpower situation will be acute by fall. There are certain things in prospect, and we think the people are entitled to know about it now."
