Sport: Baseball, Yes

Washington thinks baseball is probably pretty good for civilian and service morale —even if nightclubs are not. Last week, after satisfying himself (and the White House) that there is widespread clamoring from soldiers at home & abroad for baseball's continuance, WMChairman Paul McNutt gave the great American game his official blessing.

The McNutt go-ahead was an order "unfreezing" all bona fide ball players from their off-season war jobs.
