Sirs: Liberals were disappointed over the absence of Wendell Willkie from the Republican Convention and shocked at the treatment accorded Henry Wallace by the Democrats [TIME, July 31]. Senator Truman may become Presidential material but the electorate, remembering the disaster that followed the election of another senator similarly selected, may refuse to vote for a Hannegan-Flynn-Kelly man for the peace period.
