With the dead pan that British humor loves, London's Sunday Dispatch published a full-page "Civilians' Guide to Invasion (of Europe)." Typical counsel:

> Be alert for Nazi airborne counterattack. "At the most [a Home Guardsman] may waste a day; at the best he may kill a German before breakfast and be back at his factory on the evening shift."

> If there is an enemy rocket raid, "polish up [your] ARP."

> When the battle runs nip-&-tuck, "let Hitler have the headaches. Don't give them to yourself by unhygienic living. . . . Don't eat when you are tired, rest a while...
