Sport: Yankees Win

While waiting for this week's international broadcast of the World Series, the A.E.F. in England and Northern Ireland wound up the first season of baseball Britain had ever seen.

Of the 250 service teams that play weekly (biggest crowd: 39,980 at a charity game in Glasgow), two finally reached the finals: the Fighter Command's "Thunderbolts," the Army Ground Forces' "Yankees."

Last week at a base far from the crowds (whose members sometimes shout "Hit 'em again" when a batter is struck by a pitched ball) the "Yankees" took the championship game, 6-3.
