At the extraordinary hour of midnight, No. 10 Downing Street last week issued a statement in the name of Winston Churchill:
"Any use of poison gas against our Russian allies by the Nazis or their satellites will immediately be followed by the fullest possible use of this process of war upon German munitions centers, seaports and other military objectives throughout the whole extent of Germany."
London sources later said that the Prime Minister had a very real, very disturbing reason for making this statement: Moscow had reported the capture of secret German papers which indicated that the Germans were planning to use...
