Since September 21, meteorologists have devoted much study to the
hurricane which on that day cut a swath of destruction through New
England. Last week Director Charles Franklin Brooks of Harvard's Blue
Hill Meteorological Observatory at Milton, Mass., declared that sea
spray picked up by the storm was carried 50 miles inland.
