Michigan is contiguous to more fresh water than any other State in the U. S. Four of the five Great Lakes provide all but two of Michigan's borders. Yet within 50 miles of fresh water in Michigan there is an inexhaustible supply of salt water. From briny depths 1,200 ft. or more beneath the earth's surface the 39-year-old Dow Chemical Co. daily pumps thousands of gallons of water from which it makes hundreds of products.
