Codeball-on-the-Green was invented in 1929 by Dr. William Edward Code of Chicago to oblige his friend, the late Anton J. Cermak, then head of the Cook County Board, who sought an inexpensive outdoor game suited to large playgrounds. A combination of golf and soccer, its object is to kick a large, lively rubber ball down stretches of "fairway" into 14 specially constructed bowls in the smallest possible number of kicks. A...
