When Senator George William Norris of Nebraska opened his speaking tour for Governor Roosevelt in Philadelphia's Metropolitan Opera House last week, his voice was to be broadcast. Somebody blundered. The Senator spoke into dead microphones. Next day Publisher Julius David Stern's Philadelphia Record shrieked with an eight-column banner: THE RADIO FAILED!
