MEN AND MEMORIES (Vol. II), Recollections of William Rothenstein, 1900-22 —Coward-McCann ($5).

As readers of his Volume I know (TIME, April 13, 1931), Artist Rothenstein has pots-full of anecdotes about the great and near-great with which to paint his contemporary scene. As a free-lance portrait artist, later as an official painter during the War, he met scores of anecdote-worthy people, straightway made friends, often referred to them as "assets" in his life. The liabilities he omits.
