The auctioneer was German. The bids were in U. S. dollars. The place
was Leningrad last week, and $3,000,000 worth of furs were sold by the
Soviet Government to foreign bidders.
To help sales, the bidders were given "cheap rates" at Leningrad's Hotel
Europe: $15 per person per day for room & meals.
