Biggest shipyard on the West Coast is California Shipbuilding Corp. at Los Angeles. Last week, Calship also proved itself the world's fastest. Every 36 hours during the month of June, Calship slid a Liberty ship down one of its 14 ways, chalked up 20 for the month, one more than the world's record it set in April. If this record is broken, Calship will probably not do it. Reason: This week some of the ways are converted to build Liberty tankers.
