Army & Navy - Rest for the Weary

Fires on naval vessels found easy feeding on traditionally thick coats of paint and linoleum decks. Last week the Navy was taking up the linoleum, scraping off the paint, leaving the steel surface bare and fireproof. Most pleased by the solution—and failure, so far, to find a fireproof paint—are the sailors themselves, who once spent much of their spare time, chipping off the old, brushing on the new.
