From Washington came further definitions of current officialese:

Point up the issue — To expand a 1-page memo to 15 pages.

For the record — Let's swell the file with nonsense.

Operational level — Place where the theory stops and the work begins.

Government board — Long, narrow, and wooden.

Research work — Hunting for files.

Office memo — A typewritten statement one reads, initials, forgets to remember and hands to someone who has seen it before.
