First recent major Washington step toward simplifying alphabetical confusion came when the Nelson Rockefeller committee's title was cut down sharply. The Office for Coordination of Commercial & Cultural Relations Between the American Republics suddenly became the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs—OCCCRBAR into OCIAA.
Last week efficiency experts still boggled at breaking down to a pronounceable status the name that still tops all, Paul McNutt's Office of the Coordinator of Health, Welfare, Nutrition, Recreation & Related Defense Activities. No one knew how to boil down the OCHWNRRDA into anything less.
