Some time in June the gleam in big, shambling Publisher Ralph McAllister Ingersoll's eye is due to appear on New York City newsstands as a new afternoon newspaper called P. M. (TiME, Jan. 22). To publicize the coming event and round up artists who could illustrate newstories with sketches as a supplement to photographs, he announced a competition, in collaboration with Manhattan's Museum of Modern Art, for newsy drawings, with five top prizes of $100, 20 prizes of $50 each.
