Ten years ago, a four-minute mile, a seven-foot high jump, a 15-foot pole vault were considered as unlikely as a cow jumping over the moon. Year after year U. S. athletes, a dedicated, concentrated and highly competitive lot, have approached nearer & nearer these impossible figures. Last week, at Berkeley, Calif., Pole Vaulter Cornelius Warmerdam of the San Francisco Olympic Club became the first trackman officially to do the "impossible."
