He was succeeded by Major General William Wain Prior, 63, a tall, slender man with a deep-lined face and penetrating eyes, who is modest, sober, steady, a little bureaucratic, of bourgeois stock. Like his father, one of Denmark's respected class called grosserer (wholesale merchants), General Prior is an economizing man.
