WESTERN THEATRE: Compassion

The British War Office issued a new regulation applicable to all British women enrolled in the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service, Women's Transport Service, Women's Legion (ambulances, firefighting, messages by motorcycle), Mechanical Transport Training Corps, Emergency Service. The regulation: "[The women] shall be granted leave on compassionate grounds when their husbands are on leave from the armed forces."
