Bald, pious Charles Wayland Bryan, brother of the late great William Jennings Bryan, got his political start in 1915 as Mayor of flat, pious Lincoln, Neb. He went on to become Nebraska's three-time Governor and the Democratic Party's skull-capped candidate for Vice President in 1924. When his third term as Governor ended last January, Brother Bryan announced that he was retiring to tend his three farms. Last week, at 68, by polling more votes than any other candi date in a nonpartisan primary, he won a nomination for Mayor of Lincoln, Neb.
