Handsome Spangler Arlington Brugh, 27, got into the movies when a scout saw him in Journey's End at Pomona College, which graduated him in 1933. A matinee idol and shopgirls' delight from the beginning, he got off on the wrong foot when critics dubbed him "Beautiful" Robert Taylor. To counteract this tendency, his studio, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, put him in one two-fisted role after another, swaddled him in he-man publicity.
