Madam Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins, in England to explore industrial conditions for Franklin Roosevelt, replied last week to a British query on his third-term intentions:
"I don't know. I once asked Mr. Roosevelt himself. He just turned and looked out the window as if he hadn't seen me."
Chuckled the New York Sun, rehearsing the incident in the present tense: "The world cannot but wish that for once she will not remember she is a lady. She should shake him firmly by the shoulder and shout, 'Franklin, answer me!' "
