Foreign News: Shop Purge

As Soviet railway shop work is not going well, Chief of Railway Equipment Industries Lev Krivorotchenko was ousted last week, charged with "accepting deliberately falsified statistics on the production of locomotives in 1937." Since Lev Krivorotchenko was an ordinary locomotive engineer when he was promoted last year as one of Dictator Stalin's favorite "New Bolsheviks" to the head of the Soviet Union's entire railway equipment industry, it is logical that he had "accepted" statistics while learning what statistics are.
