English Author Warner admires the mystical novels of Franz Kafka. Publisher Knopf believes that this book is perhaps another Gulliver's Travels. Hard boiled readers will find it like the curate' s egg.

BROOKS Too BROAD FOR LEAPING— Flannery Lewis—Macmillan ($2.50). A sensitive, well-written story of a seven year-old's small-town world of 1918; b) the promising youthful author of Suns Go Down.
