ITALY: For Richer, For Poorer

In the days when Benito Mussolini was a rabid, stump-speaking young Socialist, he used to demand free lunches for Italian school children at the expense of the State. Last week by Fascist decree school lunches were made compulsory throughout Italy, but not at the expense of the State. Rich moppets will be charged enough to pay for their lunches and those of poor moppets as well. Rich or poor, every Italian school child will be required, before eating school lunch, to say this grace:

"O Duce, I thank you for what you give me...
