When J. (for James) Rion McKissick graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1905, he was voted not only the biggest eater and best writer but the most accomplished orator in his class. Last week South Carolina's Governor Olin D. Johnston and a deputation of State officials gathered in the University's field house to inaugurate Alumnus McKissick, who had worked up from the editorship of the Greenville Piedmont through the deanship of the University's school of journalism, as the University's 19th president.
