Few U. S. industries are livelier, more ingenious than the glass industry. Two of its most important divisions are bottle glass and flat glass. The bottle division continually wars with the tin-can industry over the packaging of products. Glass-packed coffee marked a glass advance; canned beer was a victory for tin.
