"Names make news." Last week these names made this news: In 1788 John Adams and his wife, Abigail, brought from England to their new home in Quincy, Mass, a Yorkish rosebush. Wife Abigail planted it behind the house, close to the library windows. That summer it bloomed, white & yellow. Last week Abigail Adams' Yorkish rosebush bloomed, white & yellow, for the 146th consecutive year. Following his release by kidnappers William Franklin Gettle (TIME, May 24), well-to-do Los Angeles homebody, let himself be shown off to civic organizations, Rotary Clubs, Chambers of Commerce....
