Lake Michigan's water level was uncommonly low last week. Trooping along the shore near Chicago, a bevy of geology students from Central Y. M. C. A. College of Arts & Science were so surprised to see parts of a submerged reef well known to chartmakers jutting a few inches above water that they waded out to chip off samples.
