At Henley-on-the-Thames, Connecticut's Kent School crew won the Thames Challenge Cup, by two lengths, in the final against the Bedford Rowing Club.

At Long Beach, Calif., in a regatta organized by Los Angeles promoters, University of Washington beat Yale, sprint champion in the East, by six feet, over the 2,000-meter Olympic course. Nearest thing to a 1933 substitute for the canceled Poughkeepsie regatta, the race was won against a crisp bow wind in 6:38 4/5 —10 sec. off the Olympic record.
