Columbia University has a McVickar Professorship of Political Economy, founded in 1904, which is as celebrated as many an older endowed chair. Its only occupant until he retired at 70 last June was Professor Edwin Robert Anderson Seligman, famed international economist. To the McVickar Professorship was last week appointed Dr. Robert Murray Haig, 44, professor of business administration at Columbia since 1916.
