Drug addicts are the smartest inmates of Federal prisons, the Government
figured last week. Public Health Service mental hygienists had studied
the intelligence test ratings of the prisoners. Significant is the fact
that 30 out of 100 dope fiends are above average intelligence. Of
nonaddicts 18% rate above average, 17% defective. Only 10% of the
addicts are defective.
