Lake Geneva is fed by Switzerland's snows and icy springs. But its chill did not deter Corry Liebbrand, 21, plump Dutch girl, from wading in at Lausanne early one morning last week. She stroked away westward. All that day she swam, all that night. She was lost for hours from accompanying boats. On she swam. The next evening she reached Geneva, 37ΒΌ miles from her starting place. She is the only person ever known to accomplish the feat. Last year fat Georges Michel, channel-swimming French baker, attempted it, had to give up.
