In Berlin, Dr. W. Christ, experimenter, stained a quart of water with a harmless blue dye; made a neighbor swallow the full quart. The doctor wanted to know how fast the stomach got rid of the water. So at intervals, he ran a rubber tube down the neighbor's throat to his stomach and drained off a little water. He learned: in 15 minutes half the water was gone, in 30 minutes four-fifths.
