SOLDIER BONUS: Cash

The first clay of March saw the first distribution of cash made under the Bonus Act of last year. Checks were in the mail to veterans whose credit was for $50 or less and to dependents of dead veterans.

Just before the first cash went out, Major General Robert C. Davis went before the House Appropriations Committee to tell of the progress of the work:

¶Of 3,700,000 Army veterans entitled to bonuses under the law, 2, 400,000 had made applications; 2,200,000 applications had been approved and sent to the Veterans' Bureau for payment.
