The Vicar Apostolic of the Northern Solomon Islanders, Bishop Thomas Wade, arrived in San Francisco last week with an explanation why cannibals are cannibals. Said he:

"Deprive a native Solomon Islander of vitamins and proteins demanded by nature and he will eat his neighbor. Give him natural food and he will become ashamed of his former flesh eating. Cannibalism was originally due to lack of meat in the islands. Then it became surrounded by ceremonials.
