Foreign News: Recovery Race

The poor showing of U. S. Recovery again glared from League of Nations statistics last week as Geneva released the indices of industrial production for 1934.

France ranked on a production par with the U. S., both down 33% from 1929. Japan and Britain are far out ahead, Japan surpassing her 1929 production level and Britain nearly up to hers.

In industrial production for 1934, as compared with 1933, France is down 7.5%, the U. S. up 4%, Japan up 8%, Britain 12%. Germany leads the Great Powers with the Fatherland's production up 24%. Reason:...
