GERMANY: Cheaper Than Empties

Complained the German Brewers' Association last week in their annual report: "Japanese bottled beer is being sold in Germany at prices lower than we pay for empty bottles."

In 1933, the first year of the anti-Nazi boycott, England wrested from Germany first place as a beer exporter. Today Japan is crowding the increasingly boycotted Fatherland into third place.
