In two of the four important races which Mrs. Isabel Dodge Sloane's three-year-old Cavalcade had won up to last week, Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt's Discovery had been second. Whether the misfortune of racing against a horse whom experts last week were comparing to Man o' War was an insuperable obstacle was what Mr. Vanderbilt wanted to learn when he entered Discovery in the Arlington Classic at Chicago last week.
