The Post Office last week announced it would issue a new 3¢ stamp in honor of Mother's Day (May 13). Officials agreed it would be a reproduction of Whistler's Portrait of the Artist's Mother, could not decide whether to have her clasped hands hold a bouquet of carnations, Mother's Day symbol. The stamp will be issued May 1.
