In Manhattan, Beatrice Pickens, 23, committed suicide, left the following note for Roger Spencer: "Don't get a swelled head and think you are a god because I am dying on account of you, because I assure you that you will never, never find anyone that cared for you as I did. . . . I have a perfect radio voice. Also I have an offer to pose for hosiery and lingerie, so you see I am not such a worthless creature. Everyone says I am a fool for loving a little insignificant elevator...
