There are 287 planes in Chicago, more than in any other U. S. city,
according to a census (military planes excluded) published last week
by the Department of Commerce. Next three ranking cities in
plane-population: New York, 246; Los Angeles, 159; Detroit, 122. Of
16,600 cities and towns surveyed, 17% boasted at least one plane.
