RUSSIA: Davai!

Moscow has never had a golf course. Soviet sports writers—earnest, class-conscious scribes—have often stigmatized the game as "hopelessly bourgeois." Abruptly last week the Soviet State announced that a Moscow golf course will be built at once, in the frozen dead of winter "to be ready for play by spring." Flags marking the Soviet holes will be red. Instead of crying "Fore!", Red golfers will shout "Davai!" (Russian for "Give!", i. e. "Give Way!").
