In Melbourne last week the Beach Purity League was excoriated by Police Magistrate Stafford.
"I deplore the law compelling me to fine young men for the natural and healthy act of rolling down their bathing suits to the waist," declared Judge Stafford. "The day is coming when Australians will regard a loin cloth a sufficient covering and when young men will be proud to display fine, manly, suntanned figures."
