¶ The New York Daily News Athletic Association: the fifth annual inter-city Golden Gloves Amateur boxing carnival; by defeating the Chicago Tribune A. A. in twelve out of 16 bouts in Manhattan's Madison Square Garden. A crowd of 20,000 cheered two knockouts, booed lustily when Jerry Wright, New York Negro, was given a decision over Chicago's Adam Smith in the heavyweight feature bout of the tournament.
