For their best shots, newsreels are dependent upon accidentally suitable events, like the Lindbergh kidnapping. Otherwise they are too often forced to use cliches like battleship launchings, cherry-blossom time in Japan, baby parades, Mussolini, sporting events and animals that can dance or count.
