Last week 31 building trade unions of Chicago (membership: 150,000) accepted a 20%, voluntary reduction in pay as a compromise with the Building Construction Employers' Association's request for a 25%, cut. Although most of the city's labor contracts do not expire until 1934, the reduction will become effective March i, will obtain for one year.
