Sir William Orpen, K. B. E., R. A. was born in Stillorgan, County Dublin, 52 years ago. He was an incredible little man who looked like a Gaelic gnome, used to smoke 70 cigarets a day, eat four meals, sleep twelve hours and walk 15 miles.
