Foreign News: Unique Expedition

While representatives of 35 countries talked & talked on a dozen world economic problems in Washington last week (see above), representatives of seven countries sat down in Brussels and did something tangible about one problem. World Sugar. Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia. Belgium, Hungary, Java, Cuba signed and put into effect the Chadbourne Plan to limit production and export of sugar, restore sugar prices to a profitable basis (TIME, Aug. 18 et seq.).
